Los ganadores de los Premios Hugo 2023, los galardones más importantes del mundo para la literatura de ciencia ficción, se anunciaron el sábado 21 de octubre por la noche.
En el acto final de la WorldCon, el autor chino Hai Ya se llevó a casa el premio en la categoría de mejor relato por su obra THE SPACE-TIME PAINTER. T. Kingfisher, de Estados Unidos, obtuvo el premio en la categoría de mejor novela por su obra NETTLE & BONE. Samantha Mills ganó el premio al mejor relato corto por RABBIT TEST, mientras que Seanan McGuire fue nombrada ganadora en la cateogoría de mejor novela corta por WHERE THE DROWNED GIRLS GO. El escritor estadounidense Travis Baldree ganó el Premio al Mejor Escritor Revelación, mientras que la autora nigeriano-estadounidense Nnedi Okorafor ganó el Premio Lodestar al Mejor Libro para Jóvenes por su obra AKATA WOMAN.
Los resultados fueron anunciados en una ceremonia durante la 81ª Convención Mundial de Ciencia Ficción que se ha llevado a cabo en Chengdu, la capital de la provincia de Sichuan, en el suroeste de China.
Los Premios Hugo, presentados por primera vez en 1953 y anualmente desde 1955, son los galardones más prestigiosos de la ciencia ficción. Los premios Hugo son votados por miembros de la Convención Mundial de Ciencia Ficción, que también es responsable de administrarlos. La Convención Mundial de Ciencia Ficción se celebra anualmente desde 1939 (excepto durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, de 1942 a 1945). Es la primera vez que la reunión de ciencia ficción más grande y de mayor duración del mundo llega a China.
